Worthy Brothers,

This is a quick reminder that St. Paul's Council 418, Portsmouth, VA, will be hosting a 3rd Degree at their Council Chambers this coming Sunday, February 19th.  So far, only two Brothers have signed up: Deacon George Stonikinis, Jr., and Alan Proctor.  Many others are eligible for the Third Degree and should give serious consideration to going at this time. We only have one or two opportunities per year to attend an exemplification within a reasonable travel distance.

You're all welcome to ride with me.  If additional candidates decide to go, we'll get more drivers, if needed.  We will depart Holy Family Church parking lot around 9:30am.  All candidates must be registered for the degree between 10:45 and 11:15am.  The degree begins promptly at 11:30am.  After the ceremony, lunch will be served.  We should be back by mid - to - late afternoon. There is no cost to the candidates.

NC Bishops Request Support of Special Needs Bill

The Catholic Bishops of North Carolina are requesting the faithful in their Dioceses to contact their State House representatives asking for their vote in favor of House Bill 344, which would allow income tax credit for children with disabilities who require special education. The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge of Raleigh and the Most Reverend Peter J. Jugis of Charlotte point out the burden faced by many families who have a special needs child. They note that Catholic schools in both Dioceses would be willing to work with families in accommodating their children.
Please click on this link and follow the link on the Diocese site to add your vote for the bill.
Thank you.
